The Solan Hockey Club celebrated its 8th foundation day today at the historic Thodo Ground in Solan. Hockey matches for the under-14 and under-17 players were held during the event.
The Under-14 hockey match was inaugurated by social worker Madhu Gupta while the Under-17 hockey match was inaugurated by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajdeep Singh.
Before this, all the officials of Solan Hockey Club performed puja at the Shoolini temple and cut the cake.
Solan Hockey Club President Captain S.P. Jagota stated on this occasion that the club was founded in 2019. He added that the club has already provided free and professional hockey training to hundreds of children. He added that many of these promising players have represented Himachal Pradesh in national-level competitions.
SP Jagota stated that the club’s primary objective is to promote the national sport of hockey at the grassroots level in the state and to provide a strong platform for young talent, both rural and urban. He added that the club organizes annual competitions from August 27th, National Sports Day, to August 29th, the birth anniversary of renowned hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
He inspired the youth to join sports and maintain discipline.
An inter-district hockey tournament was organized to mark the occasion. A total of six teams, boys and girls, from Nalagarh and Solan participated in it.
The players of the winning and runner-up teams of the competition were honoured with medals, trophies and certificates.
On this occasion, the club also honoured Municipal Corporation’s sanitation inspectors Rahul and Gurtej.
On this occasion, members of Brahmakumari Sanstha Solan also made children aware about drug addiction.
Public Works Department’s Superintending Engineer Rakesh Thakur and Executive Engineer Ravi Kapoor were specially present on this occasion.
Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Solan Chetan Chauhan, Solan Hockey Club officials Pankaj Gupta, Sheela Kaushal, Krishna Thakur, Narendra Chandel, Savita Sharma and other officials and players were present in the program.
