Shimla, August 26
The Youth Red Cross Unit of St. Bede’s College, Shimla, organised an awareness programme titled “MANSA – A Resolution: Rethinking Drug Prevention Through Emotional Intelligence” under the Indian Red Cross Society, Himachal Pradesh. An induction programme of the Red Cross Unit was also held alongside the event.
The programme was organised in the college auditorium in the presence of Principal Dr. Sister Rosily T.L., faculty member Neha Walia, and Indian Red Cross Society, Himachal Pradesh members Bindu Joshi, Pallavi Sharma and Virendra Singh Bisht. The initiative aimed to create awareness about the growing menace of drug abuse and highlight the role of emotional awareness and responsible decision-making in preventing addiction.
Psychiatrist and anti-drug advocate Bindu Joshi sensitised students about emotional awareness and its important role in drug prevention. Pallavi Sharma, a volunteer with the State Red Cross Society, spoke about the importance of human values, empathy and social responsibility among young people.
The programme also discussed the physical, psychological, emotional and social consequences of substance abuse, encouraging students to make informed and responsible choices. A total of 379 students and faculty members participated in the event, which concluded with a pledge to promote drug prevention, emotional well-being and humanitarian values among youth.
