Students Urged to Embrace Healthy, Tobacco-Free Living
Arki, May 30: Marking World No Tobacco Day, Lakshya Public School, Arki, organised an awareness programme on Saturday to educate students about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and encourage them to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Veena Gupta highlighted the serious health risks associated with tobacco use. She said that tobacco is a leading cause of life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, heart disease and respiratory disorders, besides negatively affecting an individual’s physical, mental and social well-being.
She urged students to stay away from tobacco and other intoxicating substances and encouraged them to spread awareness among their families and communities about the dangers of addiction.
As part of the observance, the school conducted a series of activities, including speech competitions, poster-making contests and awareness campaigns. Students showcased creative posters depicting the harmful consequences of tobacco use and promoted the message of a healthier, addiction-free society.
Teachers also interacted with students, explaining the long-term health hazards linked to tobacco consumption and motivating them to cultivate positive habits and healthy lifestyles.
The school community collectively pledged to maintain a tobacco-free environment and work towards spreading awareness in society. Students also took an oath to refrain from tobacco and other addictive substances and inspire others to do the same.
Principal Veena Gupta said that the institution remains committed not only to academic excellence but also to the overall moral, social and health development of students. She added that such awareness initiatives play a crucial role in shaping responsible citizens and fostering positive thinking among young learners.
