Dr. Shikha Sharma, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), has assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Shimla.
A native of Hamirpur district, Dr. Sharma was born and brought up in Shimla. She completed her schooling from Dayanand Public School, Shimla and earned a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from Government Dental College, IGMC Shimla.
Dr. Sharma topped the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services (HPAS) Examination in 2014 and served in various positions in the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service. She later joined the Indian Audit and Accounts Service (IA&AS) and served as Deputy Accountant General in Uttarakhand. She has also represented India in Japan as part of professional and knowledge-sharing engagements organised by the Government of India.
With experience in healthcare, administration, public finance and taxation, Dr. Sharma brings a wealth of expertise to her new role. The Income Tax Department has welcomed her appointment and expressed confidence that her leadership will further strengthen taxpayer services and tax administration in the region.
