Shimla, June 1
A 78-year-old man died after suddenly falling ill inside the State Bank of India (SBI) branch on Mall Road in Shimla on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Khoob Ram, a resident of Jakhu in Shimla.
According to police, Khoob Ram had visited the SBI Mall Road branch for some personal work when his health suddenly deteriorated and he collapsed inside the bank premises. Bank employees and police personnel present at the spot immediately rushed to his aid and shifted him to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, for treatment.
However, doctors at IGMC declared him “brought dead” upon examination.
Following the incident, police initiated the necessary legal formalities. Officials said that the exact cause of death would be ascertained after the post-mortem examination. Proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been initiated, and an inquest is being conducted.
Police stated that no suspicious circumstances have emerged during the preliminary investigation. The actual cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received.
