Shimla: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that Himachal Pradesh is rapidly strengthening its health sector and will soon have one of the best diagnostic systems. He said a ₹3,000-crore project for the state has been approved under JICA, while the government aims to reduce waiting periods in medical colleges to zero.
Responding to a question by MLA Kewal Singh Pathania during Question Hour in the Assembly’s Monsoon Session, the Chief Minister said the government has replaced the 19-year-old MRI machine at IGMC. New 3-Tesla MRI machines have also been procured for Chamyana, IGMC, Nerchowk, TMC, Mandi and Hamirpur.
The government is also working to develop Chamyana as a super-speciality healthcare centre, he said, adding that the tender process for advanced automation equipment has also been initiated.
Robotic Surgery Facilities Expanded
The Chief Minister said robotic surgery facilities have been introduced at several medical colleges across the state. He stated that while a robotic surgery can cost around ₹1.30 lakh, the government provides a subsidy of ₹1 lakh to eligible patients, reducing their out-of-pocket expenditure to about ₹30,000.
Rehabilitation and Livelihood Support for Kangra Airport-Affected Families
The state government has expedited the rehabilitation and resettlement process for families likely to be displaced by the expansion of Kangra Airport. Responding to a question raised by Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said the government is identifying affected families and making provisions to protect both their housing and livelihood.
Parour-Chakki Four-Lane Project to Be Built in Five Packages
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh said the Parour-Chakki four-lane project will be executed in five packages and has affected 5,734 families so far. One package has been completed, work is underway on three, while the DPR for one package is still being prepared.
8,533 Land Demarcation and Partition Cases Pending in Una
Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi informed the Assembly that 4,467 land demarcation and 4,066 land partition cases are currently pending in Una district, taking the total number of pending cases to 8,533.
Government to Reintroduce Bill on Public Path Encroachments
The state government is likely to bring back a bill aimed at preventing repeated claims and encroachments on public paths and roads. Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi said the earlier bill had been sent for Presidential assent, but approval has not yet been received.
Eight Stages of BPL Survey Completed
Eight stages of the BPL survey have been completed in Himachal Pradesh, though the final list is yet to be prepared. At present, 2,61,335 families in rural areas are included in the Below Poverty Line category.
99,689 Trainees Skilled Under Various Projects
The Himachal Pradesh Skill Development Corporation has trained 99,689 trainees under various projects and schemes between 2015 and January 31, 2026, according to a written reply in the Assembly.
279 Jal Jeevan Mission Projects to Be Completed Under JJM 2.0
The government said that 279 stalled projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission will be completed under JJM 2.0. Formalities are currently being completed for the projects, on which ₹1,494.40 crore has already been spent.
