Shimla, May 11: In a rare political development, all seven wards of Narkanda Nagar Panchayat have been elected unanimously after other candidates withdrew their nominations in favour of a single candidate in each ward.
The unanimous outcome in the civic body, which falls under the Theog Assembly constituency and is considered the home region of senior Congress leader Kuldeep Singh Rathore, has been termed a major step towards political unity and collective development.
Congress leader Hari Krishan Himral congratulated the residents and contestants of Narkanda for achieving consensus-based elections. He said the development reflects social harmony, mutual understanding and the people’s faith in collective leadership.
Himral stated that the unanimous election also endorses the acceptance of Kuldeep Rathore as a strong and widely supported leader of the region. He added that such consensus politics would help accelerate developmental works and strengthen coordination among public representatives.
It is learnt that Hari Krishan Himral had been appointed as observer for the Nagar Panchayat elections and had been actively coordinating with local leaders and candidates over the past week to ensure consensus in all wards. Party leaders credited the successful outcome to coordinated efforts at the grassroots level and sustained dialogue among candidates and local stakeholders.
