He stated that addiction can lead to various health complications, including heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and lung and kidney disorders. In addition to physical ailments, drug abuse can also cause mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, irritability, and insomnia.
Dr. Pathak emphasized that substance abuse can severely impact the lives and future of students. He urged young people to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy, positive, and disciplined lifestyle.
The Chief Medical Officer also called upon teachers and parents to remain vigilant about the activities and behaviour of students. He advised them to take behavioural changes seriously and maintain open and transparent communication with children to help protect them from falling into the trap of addiction.
The awareness camp formed part of the ongoing Drug-Free India Campaign aimed at spreading awareness and encouraging collective efforts to eliminate drug abuse from society.
