HRTC Bus Overtur
Mandi, June 22: A major road accident was averted in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district on Monday morning when an HRTC bus lost control and overturned off the road near Bhateda Chowki in Sarkaghat subdivision. The bus was travelling from the Chowki area towards Sarkaghat when the mishap occurred.
According to preliminary reports, the bus suddenly went out of control near Bhateda Chowki and rolled down the roadside. Fortunately, instead of plunging into a deep gorge, the vehicle got stuck on a lower embankment along the road, preventing what could have been a far more serious tragedy.
The driver, conductor and several passengers sustained injuries in the accident. Local residents rushed to the spot and assisted in rescue efforts before the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police and administrative officials reached the accident site soon after receiving information and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the mishap. Initial reports suggest that the timely intervention of locals and the bus getting lodged on the roadside helped avert heavy casualties.
Authorities are examining whether a mechanical fault, driver error or road conditions contributed to the accident. Further details are awaited.
