Secretariat Employee Killed by Son in Mandi; Accused Arrested
Mandi, Himachal Pradesh: In a shocking incident that has left the region stunned, a 51-year-old woman employed at the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat was allegedly beaten to death by her own son during a family dispute fueled by alcohol.
The deceased has been identified as Parvati Devi, a resident of Jaydevi in Mandi district. According to police, the accused, Khema Ram, has been arrested on charges of murder.
Family Dispute Turns Fatal
Police said the incident occurred when Khema Ram was consuming alcohol with his 61-year-old father, Khub Ram, at their home. An argument reportedly broke out between the father and son, escalating rapidly into a heated confrontation.
As tensions rose, Parvati Devi intervened in an attempt to calm the situation and prevent the dispute from turning violent. However, the accused allegedly turned his anger towards his mother.
Mother Killed While Trying to Save Family
Investigators said Khema Ram allegedly picked up a heavy wooden stick and struck Parvati Devi on the head. The blow proved fatal, and she succumbed to her injuries on the spot.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage and grief in the local community, with residents expressing shock over the brutal killing of a mother who was simply trying to protect her family.
Police Action
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from BSL Colony Police Station rushed to the scene, took custody of the body, and launched an investigation.
Based on a complaint filed by Khub Ram, police registered a murder case and arrested the accused. Authorities said further investigation is underway to determine all circumstances surrounding the crime.
