Shimla, July 29
Marking World Nature Conservation Day, Shimla Jal Prabandhan Nigam Limited (SJPNL) and SUEZ India, in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh Eshwas Lok Kalyan Society, organised a cleanliness drive at a traditional water spring (baori) near the Kachhi Ghati Barrier in Shimla.
Volunteers collected plastic waste, litter and other debris from the site while also clearing overgrown vegetation around the water source. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental conservation and the protection of natural water resources through community participation.
SUEZ India, which is engaged in implementing and operating Shimla’s 24×7 continuous, pressurised drinking water supply project, said it remains committed not only to improving urban water infrastructure but also to supporting environmental and community welfare initiatives.
The company added that pipeline-laying and road restoration works under the 24×7 water supply project are progressing across the city. It is also issuing periodic advisories during the monsoon season to help safeguard public health and ensure safe water management practices.
