Chamba: In a tragic road accident, five members of the same family from Bharmour lost their lives after their car plunged into a deep gorge near Lahad in Banikhet, Chamba district, early Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. when the family was returning home after visiting PGI. The victims include a father, his son, daughter-in-law, young grandson, and niece.
Police, local residents, and rescue teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident. Rescue operations were launched immediately, but all five occupants were found dead.
According to preliminary information, the family was returning to Bharmour after taking a patient to PGI. The exact cause of the accident is yet to be established, though officials suspect the driver lost control of the vehicle on the hilly stretch. Police have initiated an investigation.
The heartbreaking tragedy has sent shockwaves across Bharmour, with locals expressing grief and urging authorities to strengthen road safety measures on the region’s mountainous roads.
